If this is your first time here, thanks for stopping by. Ten years ago, I could have never imagined that I would have a book in print, much less for sale on the internet and in book stores. Who would have thunk it? Somedays I still have to pinch myself to make sure that I am not imagining all of this! Growing up, I always wanted to be a chef, but, I guess God had different plans for me. I certainly never told anyone I wanted to be an author! So since my life didn't come with a precise roadmap telling me where to go and what to do I had to follow God's direction and my heart.
When I left high school the only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to be a mom. I didn't have a clue about a profession to pursue. I love when a young person is asked what they want to do and they respond with things like, "I want to be a neurosurgeon, a CEO of a major company or a physicist." I always wondered where did that come from and why did I never have it! It wasn't until I was in my forties when God came into my life that I realized that it wasn't what I wanted, but, what He wanted for me. After I began to focus on His will for life, things began to fall into place. My "other" gifts slowly began to be revealed to me. For some, gifts are more easily recognizable. My sister-in-law, Jeannie, is an extremely talented artist. Both of my sons play a really mean guitar and my friend, Patsy is very crafty. I, on the other hand, had to dabble in everything I could get my hands on! I love trying new things. That is sort of what happened with these journals. I know the book business is very risky, but I couldn't let that stand in my way. I am very passionate about these books and I know your families will treasure what you have preserved for them in your own words. I think I've accomplished what I set out to do by setting up the blueprint for you.
I am married to my best friend and he truly is the most wonderful guy in the whole world. He loves the Lord and has a heart of gold. Between the two of us, we have been blessed with four wonderful children and one grandchild. We have a dog named Jack and call Oklahoma City home. Although I am from Texas, I really do love Oklahoma!
When I am not working on my books, I enjoy spending every free moment of time with my little "ball of fire" grandson, Tyler! He has shown me how to enjoy the important things in life such as laughing, being silly and how much fun it really is playing choo-choo trains on the floor all day long. This whole grandparenting thing is a lot of fun. In the early morning, I usually can be found on my front porch swing with a cafe mocha trying to relax before my day begins.
Some of my hobbies include scrapbooking (man, am I ever behind!), gardening or just hanging out with friends. My main passion is cooking. I love to cook. I love cooking all kinds of food and have my friends over to enjoy my latest creations. Did I mention I love to cook? I am also, a nurse, but, after my grandson was born, I decided it would be a lot more fun staying home and taking care of him. So for the past two years that is what I have done. Those memories are priceless and I will treasure them forever in my heart. I thank God for the opportunity that I was given to be able to stay home with him. We also have been blessed with a wonderful church family at The Cross of Calvary in South Oklahoma City. I also enjoy long walks either alone or with someone. I use this time to just unwind and focus on what God has done for me.
I've never been afraid of a challenge. If it's out there and can somehow be achieved, I will try it. I do believe what the bible says: "with God all things are possible", and I believe in these journals. God has opened doors for me that I would have never thought possible and has brought so many new people into my life. Being able to touch lives that I will never know throughout the world with these journals is such a wonderful feeling. Thank you for stopping by and remember, with God, all your dreams can come true!
HAPPY JOURNALING...
